About

Ann's innugural speech_IMG_1171The Pawling Rotary was founded in 1940 as a local nonprofit club. The more than 30 proactive men and women from the community enjoy the time of meeting weekly and working to raise funds for local organizations and schools.

Our local Pawling Rotary works as part of and supports the global organization, Rotary International. In this way, our local Club supports projects and goals to advance international understanding and good will.

Rotarians see themselves as a world fellowship of men and women in business and professions united in the ideal of “service above self.”
The funds raised by the Pawling Rotary come through membership contributions and fundraisers. This last year the Pawling Rotary contributed $9,000 locally. Among its recipients were:

  • Two, $2,500 scholarships to deserving High School Seniors
  • Pawling Community and Resource Center
  • Pawling Historical Society

In partnership with the Town, the Club sponsors the Pawling Rotary Interactors. This group of about 50 High School students has been active in funding service projects locally, nationally and internationally.

As part of Rotary International, Pawling Rotary is involved in service projects throughout the USA and abroad. One of Rotary International’s longest service projects, is its fight against polio dating back to the 1950’s. In part because of their efforts in doing ground breaking research and administering the vaccines, the polio virus is close to eradication globally.
A portion of each Pawling Rotary member’s dues are distributed to the International organization.
Meetings are held each week from Noon to 1 PM at the Lathrop Building in Lakeside Park, except during the summer when we meet at the same time at Murrow Park.

Our meetings include lunch, weekly club business, much camaraderie and a featured speaker from the local community. The Pawling Rotary continues to look for new members. Perspective members should contact one of the more than 30 current members for more information.
